PURPOSE:To avoid the formation of burr and set the direction of the burr in the direction of width by forming a un-separated edge part by forming a cut-in part in the direction of plate thickness along the edge part of a metal plate in the first process and applying a shearing deformation in the direction of plate width onto the edge part in the second process. CONSTITUTION:Each of clearance and overlap quantity of the upper and lower round cutting edges of a side trimmer is set to each proper value, and a metal plate 3 having a cut-in part in the direction of the plate thickness which is made in the first process is introduced from an intrusion side, and nipped at the point A where the upper and lower separating round cutters 30 and 31 cross. The round cutters 30 and 31 advance in the direction of a pass plate shown by the arrow and and are lapped by a lap quantity S towards the exit side, and therefore, the edge part 3' of the un-separated metal plate is applied with a shearing deformation in the direction of plate width, and a product 4 and trim scraps 5 are separated. The stable nipping is secured by using a round cutter having a flanges 30' as guide, and burrs are burns are generated in the direction of plate width even in case of a soft metal plate.
