PURPOSE:To make the illuminance nearly uniform over a read width at an image forming section of a photoelectric conversion means for a reflected light through a lens by forming a fluorescent light source into an O-shaped ring and lighting both ends of an original face in a direction of read width at a high illuminance. CONSTITUTION:A light source 12 is reflected at both ends of the read width of the original 11 to be an O-shaped ring, the end of the fluorescent light reflected is placed at the middle of the read width to constitute an electrode section 12a. The light source 12 is connected electrically to a socket of the fluorescent light by the device main body and subjected to light control. Using the light source 12 as above, the relation between the illuminance and the read width direction of the original 11 shows that the reflected part at both ends as shown in figure has a high illuminance and the illuminance is decreased toward the middle electrode forming part. On the other hand, since the luminous quantity ratio of the lens 13 is decreased at the circumferential part, the illuminance is uniform in the direction of read width when the light is formed at a photoelectric conversion means 14 through the lens 13.
