PURPOSE:To easily make the stiffness distribution in the roll axial direction of a supporting roll variable by arranging an annular member movable in the roll axial direction at the inner part of a gap between the roll main body in the area of the supporting roll end part and a sleeve. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcing roll 7 is composed of the arbor 1 of the roll main body and the cylindrical body fitted to the outer periphery thereof. The annular groove in the roll axial direction is provided at the vicinity of the roll end part of this reinforcing roll 7 to remarkably reduce the stiffness for the contact load at this roll end part with the roll center part being made of a solid structure and the end part of thick structure. Consequently the stiffness of the reinforcing roll can be adjusted without shifting the roll main body in the axial direction by varying the roll end area by the shift in the roll axial direction of the ring 3 inside the annular groove. |
