Method and apparatus of producing an electrical representation of a multi-colour image (2) by scanning the image by means of coloured light-beams that are obtained by directing the light emitted by (a) point-like white light source(s) (3) through appropriate colour filters (7). The coloured scanning beams are further transformed into flat beams by means of an appropriate light guide (6).
