PURPOSE:To perform desired pagination printing, by inputting a control code for printing a page number to the arbitrary position of a document during editing from an input apparatus and adding the page number according to the input position and the kind of the control code to perform printing. CONSTITUTION:When a printing key and data such as the number of pagination start pages are inputted from an input apparatus, an input control part 2 sets a page counter 7 to a start page and allows a total page counter 11 to count the number of pages from format data to set the same to the value thereof. At the same time, the input control part 2 starts a printing data forming part 9 to take in data from a format memory area 6 and takes character data by one character from a character memory area 4 through a page control code judge part 12 to successively output the same to a printing buffer 15. When the data of one line is set, said data is converted to the character font printed by a font data converting part 16 and the property of a type form is processed by a property processing part 17 to be outputted to a printing apparatus 24.
