PURPOSE:To impart enhanced chromatographic separation capacity, by constituting an adsorbent of a flocculated secondary particle or carrier particle of a fine crystalline primary particle composed of strontium type apatite and a coating layer of said primary particle. CONSTITUTION:A suspension of a fine crystalline primary particle composed of strontium type apatite (hereinafter referred to as Sr-Ap) is sprayed to form a substantially globular flocculated secondary particle having a particle size of about 1-10mum. If necessary, heat treatment is performed at temp. equal to or less than the decomposition temp. of the Sr-Ap crystal for a predetermined time to obtain a secondary particle excellent in pressure collapse resistance. The suspension of the Sr-Ap fine crystalline primary particle is sprayed to a carrier particle (b) to be adhered thereto and dried to form a flocculated fixed coating layer (a) composed of the Sr-Ap fine crystalline primary particle to the surface of the carrier particle (b). The carrier particle (b) is obtained by processing glass, ceramic or a metal.
