<p>The method comprises cutting a sheet (1) of glass to a shape (2) for forming a lid, heating the glass (5) to a softening temperature to provide an inwardly curved recess, blowing jets of atomized water produced by compressed air as well as jets of cool air onto both sides of the formed glass lid, this giving strength or toughness to the lid-basis material (tempering), and subjecting the tempered glass-based lid to thermal resistance testing under differential temperature conditions. After those steps, a gripping knob (3) is secured to the top center of the lid-formed glass and a metallic ring (15) is firmly fitted around its outer rim.</p> |
