A weighing apparatus comprising a balance 10 arranged inside a housing 14 having an access hood that may be locked shut. The weighing apparatus has a grasping system 32 for holding the bag 34 containing the goods 36 in such a way that this bag is closed. The grasping system has a means of sealing the bag 34 which prevents the subsequent introduction of goods into the bag. When the bag 34 has been sealed, it drops onto the plate 12 of the balance 10 for the weighing operation which can only be performed with the housing 14 shut. A weight label 22 bears a reference corresponding to the sealing tape of the bag 34 so as to establish that the weighed bag corresponds with this label 22. <IMAGE>
