In processing a video signal reproduced from a track of a magnetic disc (10), if the reproduction video signal of one track out of the frame recorded two tracks is stored in the memory (34), then the control circuit (20) determines whether the memory (34) should be used as a field memory or a frame memory based on the field/frame discriminating signal reproduced from the track which is being reproduced. Therefore, the error can be prevented which occurs when only one track out of the frame recorded two tracks is erased.
