PURPOSE:To minimize the number of times of replenishment of developers during the image forming operation to improve the operation rate of an image forming device by providing a control means which preferentially transports a developing device, in which the quantity of residual developer is larger, to the side of the image forming device main body if there are two or more developing devices having the same color developer. CONSTITUTION:A developing device storage device B is provided with the control means which preferentially transports the developing device, in which the quantity of developer is larger, to the side of an image forming device main body A if there are two or more developing devices in which the same color developer is stored. For example, if two developing devices 13A and 13B having a red toner are stored and red is designated, the developing device 13A in which the quantity of residual toner is larger is transported to the side of the main body A in preference to the other developing device 13B by the control means and is used for development. Thus, the number of times of toner replenishment during the continuous operation of the image forming device is minimized to improve the operation rate of the device.
