PURPOSE:To prevent the decrease in the optical coupling efficiency by progressively decreasing the diameter of the joined parts where optical elements are fixed to each other by fillet welding as the joined parts become more distant from the fillet welded part to form a tapered surface. CONSTITUTION:The optical elements SMF to be fixed to each other by laser fillet welding are joined by the tapered surfaces 15a and 16a with the diameter decreasing as the joined parts become more distant from the fillet welded part (b). Accordingly, even when the fillet welded part (b) is contracted due to the temp. cycles, etc., the shift in the position of the optical element SMF in the axial direction, the distortion with respect to the optical axis, etc., can be prevented by the effects of the tapered joined parts 15a and 16a. Consequently, the decrease in the optical coupling efficiency can be prevented.
