PURPOSE:To substantially reduce the overall length of a starter device attaining its high reliability, by supporting a primary output shaft to an extension shaft part to be engaged with an outer race of an overrunning clutch device by a spline. CONSTITUTION:An electric DC motor 21 arranges in its side part a planetary reduction gear 24 approaching an end wall 21c. A tubular part 27, which is mounted being fitted to an armature rotary shaft extension part of the electric DC motor through a bearing 26, serves for a primary output shaft. This primary output shaft 27 is engaged with an outer race 28a of an overrunning clutch device 28 by a spline. In this way, a starter device, which substantially reduces its overall length, enhances the reliability. |
