PURPOSE:To suppress the unnecessary operation of a steering ratio converting device by providing a device to detect the execution of a deceleration control, and stopping an delaying the operation of the steering ratio converting device to restrict the conversion of the steering ratio. CONSTITUTION:A controller 53 has a steering ratio setting device 56 to find the steering ratio between the front and the rear wheels responding to the car speed, and a deciding device 58 to decide the execution of the deceleration control by a deceleration device 72. When the deceleration control is being performed, an operation restricting signal to stop the operation of a stepping motor 50 is output to a motor control device 57. In such a method, the unnecessary operation of the steering ratio converting device such as the stopping motor 50 is suppressed and its heating can be prevented. |
