PURPOSE:To increase the number of degrees of freedom for design of a reader/ printer or an electronic copying machine using a scanning and exposure device by realizing an optical system to lead a luminous flux downward from above. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive body 4 is arranged under a projection lens 5, and first and second moving mirrors 9 and 10 which are inclined asymmetrically and are arranged with surfaces turned upward and a fixed mirror 11 which is arranged with the surface turned downward are provided there. The optical path due to the first moving mirror 9, the second moving mirror 10, and the fixed mirror 11 is formed between the projection lens 5 and the photosensitive body 4 and the first moving mirror 9 and the second moving mirror 10 are scanned and moved to expose the image from the projection lens 5 on the photosensitive body 4 through a slit. Thus, the number of degrees of freedom for design of the reader/printer, the electronic copying machine, or the like is increased.
