PURPOSE:To facilitate the start of a compressor by opening/closing-controlling a bypass hole formed for the compression gas by a spring made of shape memory alloy and heating and cooling means. CONSTITUTION:A bypass hole 18 connecting a compression chamber 11 to a suction chamber 36 is formed on a side plate 22, and opening/closing-control is performed by a spool valve 30. A shape memory alloy coil spring 26 is extension/contraction-controlled by an electric conduction controller 40 as heating means and the coolant gas as cooling means. Therefore, on starting a compressor or accelerating a vehicle, smooth start of the compressor and smooth acceleration of the vehicle can be carried out by reducing the capacity and load of the compressor.
