PURPOSE:To enable inhibition of germination and propagation of thermostable bacterial spores and preserve retort food for a long period without deteriorating quality, by containing a food with a packaged disoxidizing agent in a gas-barrier bag, hermetically sealing the bag and thermally sterilizing the food. CONSTITUTION:A food, together with a packaged material of a disoxidizing agent prepared by filling and packaging an ordinary disoxidizing agent in a disoxidizing agent packaging material, obtained by using part or all of a packaging material containing an air-permeable sheet laminated to a porous composite film and having air permeability, is contained in a gas-barrier bag, e.g. a heat- resistant bag made from a packaging material having about <=100cc/m<2>.24 hr.atm oxygen permeability, hermetically sealed and thermally sterilized at 90-130 deg.C for 1-60min.
