PURPOSE:To increase the cooling effect with a simple structure by securing one end of a heat pipe to a stationary rotor boss of an electromagnetic brake, mounting a cooling fin at the exterior of the other end of a pipe, and blowing air from a blower. CONSTITUTION:Brackets 3, 6 are respectively engaged at both sides of an annular yoke 1 of square-shaped section which contains a solenoid coil 2 therein. The bracket 3 fastens a stationary rotor 5 in a yoke 1 through a rotor boss 4. A heat pipe 11 which has a fin 12 is inserted into the boss 4. A rotational shaft 8 is mounted on the bracket 6 through a bearing 7, and a rotary cylinder 9 which surrounds the rotor 5 is mounted at the end of the shaft 8. The hole 9a of a cylinder 9 is engaged with the boss 4 through a seal 9b, and magnetic powder strip 9c is filled in the cylinder 9. When the coil 2 is energized, the powder 9c is locked by the magnetic force between the cylinder 9 and the rotor 5 to brake the shaft and to generate heat. It is readily cooled by blowing air to the fin 12 by a blower 13. |
