PURPOSE:To obtain the titled copolymer giving a coating film having excellent flexibility, chemical resistance, water resistance, corrosion resistance, impact resistance, etc., and useful as paint, adhesive, etc., by copolymerizing a specific compound and an ethylenic monomer by radical copolymerization. CONSTITUTION:The objective copolymer can be produced by radially polymerizing (A) a compound of formula (R is H or methyl) (preferably P-isopropenyl-alpha,alpha- dimethylbenzylamine) and (B) an ethylenic unsaturated monomer [preferably (meth)acrylates such as methyl(meth)acrylate] using solution polymerization process preferably in a system free from water. A coating film having excellent mechanical properties is obtained by reacting the copolymer with acryloyl compound, epoxy compound, polyisocyanate compound, etc., thereby crosslinking the copolymer.
