PURPOSE:To obtain the titled agent exhibiting extremely excellent 5- lipoxygenase inhibiting activity and useful as a remedy for asthma, an immunoactivating agent, etc., by using a kinic acid caffeic acid ester or kinic acid caffeic sinapic acid ester as an active component. CONSTITUTION:Caffeic acid ester of kinic acid or caffeic sinapic acid ester of kinic acid is used as an active component of the objective agent. It can be used as an agent for oral administration (e.g. tablet or capsule) or for parenteral administration (e.g. injection or drops). The kinic acid ester used as an active component is e.g. 3-O-caffeoyl-4-O-sinapoyl kinate [extracted and separated from SANSHISHI (Gardenia jasminoides) which is a herb growing in China, etc.] and 3,5-O-dicaffeoyl kinate (extracted and separated from coffee beans).
