PURPOSE:To flexibly search and infer a knowledge, related to an objective problem area by storing the knowledge of the objective problem area as a relational expression, by an objective matter and a fundamental relational expression and a composite relational expression, defined derivatively by those. CONSTITUTION:In a composite relation definition storing part 2, the parameter of respective composite relation is stored as a field, named by a parameter name respectively. When a sentence is given as a natural language from a user, a request to store the composite relation is given to a knowledge base operating part 1, and it is stored in a composite relation storing part 4. When the user gives an inquire request by the natural language, the operating part 1 gives a search request to the storing part 4, and when it is not stored in the storing part 4, the definition is requested to the storing part 2. The storing part 2 returns the definition to the operating part 1, and the operating part 1 requests a fundamental relation storing part 5 to search it. The operating part 1 searches the value of the parameter of the composite relation of this inquiry, the formation of which is recognized.
