PURPOSE:To obtain the titled cosmetic having excellent storage stability, giving clear appearance to skin and capable of shielding ultraviolet rays over whole wavelength region, by compounding a specific amount of spherical fine particles of titanium oxide having a specific particle size distribution. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmemic can be produced by compounding a cosmetic base with 0.01-50wt.%, preferably 0.01-20% spherical fine particles of titanium oxide having a particle size distribution [particle diameter : content (wt.%)] of 5-19nm: 5-10%, 20-49nm: 10-70%, 50-79nm: 1-80%, 80-109nm: 10-20% and 110-150nm: 5-10%. The titanium oxide particle can be produced by heating and evaporating a titanium compound such as titanium alkoxide and titanium halide, decomposing or hydrolyzing the vapor and, if necessary, calcining the product. |
