PURPOSE:A composition that is composed of a specific Schiff base type benzocrown ether and a thermoplastic resin, thus having every excellent selectivity to potassium ions. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by combining (A) 0.1-20 pts.wt. of a Schiff base type benzocrown ether of formula I (A is -N=CH-, -CH=N-; R is formula II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII; X is H, halogen, nitro) with (B) 100pts.wt. of a thermoplastic resin. In addition, (C) an organoboron compound of formula IX (Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4 are H, halogen, alkyl, haloalkyl; p1, p2, p3, p4 are 1-5; M is alkali metal) is perferably added in an amount of less than 0.5 mole per mole of the component A. The component a is advantageously synthesized, when an acid catalyst such as boron trifluoride ethyl etherate is added. |
