PURPOSE:To markedly shorten the time required in the measurement of the alignment to a vehicle, by calculating toe-in amount on the basis of the distance from a corrected reference line to the measuring part of the side surface of a tire. CONSTITUTION:A controller 50 calculates the toe-in quantity T of front wheels 2R, 2L on the basis of the distances E, F continuously calculated during one revolution of the front wheel 2R and the distances G, H similarly calculated during one revolution of the front wheel 2L both of which are written in RAM 54 and compares the calculated toe-in amount T with the proper toe-in quantity T0 preliminarily written in ROM 52. When both values are different as the result of comparison, the tow-in to the front wheels 2R, 2L is adjusted to make the quantity T equal to the quantity T0. After the adjustment of the toe-in amount, by front wheels 2R, 2L are respectively allowed to make one revolution and the distance during this time is continuously calculated to obtain a proper distance.
