PURPOSE:To reduce the leakage magnetic flux and to improve the efficiency of a voice coil motor by increasing a distance of the adjacent sides of a first magnet and a second magnet. CONSTITUTION:The head actuator for a magnetic disk memory has a movable coil 5 for driving through a pivot shaft 3 a magnetic head 1 and a head arm 2 for supporting the head, and the coil 5 is secured by a coil support 4 to the shaft 3. A voice coil motor M has first - second yokes 7-8, which are rigidly connected by a connecting rod 6. First - second magnets 8-9 in which the specific poles (N-poles) of the magnets are directed toward a yoke are provided between the yokes 7 and 8. The coil 5 is disposed at the coil sides 5a, 5b between the magnets and the yokes, and a space distance l1 is so formed as to be smaller than the sum of the thickness l2 of the coil side and the thickness l3 of the magnet. Thus, it can reduce the leakage magnetic flux and improve the efficiency.
