PURPOSE:To improve processibility and to increase mechanical strength, heat- resistivity, cold-resistivity and durability, by forming the filter medium with plate-shaped laminating body of metallic fiber nonwoven cloth and expanded metal which is sealed at the peripheral part. CONSTITUTION:The expanded metals 1 are laminated on both surfaces of the metallic fiber nonwoven cloth 2 (Fig. 1c), which are, in case of necessity, pressed or rolled with 300-2,000kg/cm<2>, and are preferably punched into disks as shown in Fig. 1a. then, the peripheries of aluminum fiber and aluminum expanded metal are press-jointed as shown in Fig. 1b lest the periphery of the disk should peel off, and a sealing part 4 is formed to obtain the filter medium 5. This filter medium 5 is used as an oil separator or as a filter for filtrating air or gas.
