A support 10 in the form of a token is fixed on an object and contains an integrated circuit 20 with a microprocessor and memories, some of which are programmable read-only memories in which is recorded confidential information relating to the object. A connection member 30 has one adjustable end on the token and bears contacts 42 interacting with contacts formed on the token for linking the integrated circuit 20 to means 52 for writing or reading the recorded information.
