PURPOSE:To reduce an operator's load by converting a first character of a header into KANA (Japanese syllabary) of a voiceless sound with push of a voiced sound spot key when the first character of a KANA header has a voiced sound and then converting into a voiced sound when the first character of the header has voiceless sound and also has KANA of each of KA, SA, TA and HA rows. CONSTITUTION:When a voiced sound dot key 14 is pushed, the KANA converted into a voiceless sound is set at 'MIDASHI (header 1)' if the contents of 'MIDASHI' are equal to KANA of a voiced sound and then the KANA converted into a voiced sound is set at 'MIDASHI' only with KANA of SA, TA and HA rows in case the contents of 'MIDASHI' are not equal to KANA of a voiced sound. When a half-voiced sound spot key 15 is pushed, the KANA converted into a voiceless sound is set at 'MIDASHI' if the contents of 'MIDASHI' are equal to KANA of a half-voiced sound and then KANA converted into a half-voiced sound is set at 'MIDASHI' only with KANA of a HA row if the contents of 'MIDASHI' are not equal to KANA of a half-voiced sound respectively. These set contents of 'MIDASHI' are displayed on the headers on a display. Then an operator pushes a conversion key 12 and then fixes the characters with operation of a non-conversion key 13 when the corresponding KANJIs (Chinese characters) are obtained. In such a way, the operator's load is reduced.
