PURPOSE:To shorten an optical path from a light source to a projecting lens, to suppress the diffusion of a light and to attain an effective use by crossing two dichroic mirrors of a first stage in front of the light source and disposing the dichroic mirror of a second stage in front thereof. CONSTITUTION:In respective liquid crystal panels 19, 24, 25, converging lenses 18, 22, 23 are provided, the light forming a picture completely enters the projecting lens 30 and a distance L2 from the projecting lens 30 to the center of the dichroic mirrors 20, 21 is fully smaller than a distance L1 from projecting lens 30 to the respective liquid crystal panels 19, 24, 25, so that the focal point of the projecting lens 30 is focussed on the liquid crystal panel surface, thereby, it is difficult to visually recognize a line generated according to a dead angle at the center part of first and the second stage dichroic mirrors and a bright and clear picture having no unevenness is visually recognized because a shading enlargement ratio at the intersecting line of the mirrors is large and B is a linear light to the dichroic mirror.
