The invention relates to a handling device and more particularly a handling pincer or tongs. It consists of two grasping arms 1 and 2 articulated on a spindle 3. Two rocking arms 4 and 8, comprising at their end a pulley and an automatic locking and unlocking device, are mounted so as rotate freely on this same spindle. When the device 5 is locked, 4 is integral with 2 and by exerting a lifting force on the cable 7, the tongs open. When the device 5 is unlocked, the rocking arm 4, under the lifting force, comes to bear on the arm 1 and generates a moment which causes the pincer to close. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for producing a handling pincer for bulk products or components. <IMAGE>
