摘要 |
PURPOSE:To obtain methylstyrene in high conversion ratio and high selectivity ratio, by bringing ethyltoluene and oxygen into contact with a catalyst consisting of phosphorus oxide, tin oxide and silicon oxide in a gas phase to oxidize and dehydrogenate ethyltoluene at relatively low temperature. CONSTITUTION:A reaction feed mixture of ethytoluene and oxygen in a molar ratio of the latter : the former of 0.1-1:1 is brought in a gas phase into contact with a catalyst containing phosphorus oxide, tin oxide and silicon oxide in atomic ratios of Sn:Si=0.5-20:100 and P:Sn=0.1-2:1, preferably a catalyst containing compound oxides of phosphorus, tin and silicon or catalyst of tin oxide and phosphorus oxide supported on silicon oxide and ethyltoluene is oxidized and dehydrogenated to give methylstyrene useful as a raw material for heat-resistant resins and agricultural chemicals from the compound in high conversion ratio and high selectivity ratio at relatively low temperature (350-500 deg.C) without requiring highly dangerous hydrogen sulfide. |
