PURPOSE:To avoid wasting of an ink ribbon and enable high-speed printing, by disposing two color ink ribbons correspondingly to two thermal heads respectively, and setting the take-up directions of the two ink ribbons to be opposite to each other. CONSTITUTION:In the case of printing by moving two carriers rightward, heads 11 and 12 are located respectively on the sides of ink ribbons 17 and 19 enclosed in upper ribbon cassettes 13 and 15, of four color ink ribbons, and print leftward while taking up the ribbons for the colors corresponding to printing data. When rightward printing is finished, the ribbon cassettes are moved upward so that the heads 11 and 12 are located respectively on the sides of the ink ribbons 18 and 20, and printing is performed while taking up the ribbons for the colors corresponding to the printing data. Thus, wasting of the ink ribbons can be avoided, and printing speed can be enhanced. |
