PURPOSE:To set the delay time of the optimum variable set value despite the different response of a process in both rising and falling cases, by varying the delay time of the variable set value between the rising the falling cases of a command signal. CONSTITUTION:When a command signal 1 falls and then rises, the set value 3 varies. Then the delay time is set so that the set value 7 having a delay in a falling case and the set value 6 having a delay in a rising case are varied. In this case, a selector 8 selects the higher one of both values 6 and 7 as the final set value 9 to be given to a control system. As a result, the values 7 and 6 are selected when the signal 1 falls and rises respectively. Thus it is possible to set the delay time of the optimum variable set value despite the different response of a process.
