PURPOSE:To uniformly cool lines of hot coils in a shortened cooling time, by dividedly subjecting the lines of hot coils to forced air cooling with plural large- sized fans. CONSTITUTION:Many grooves 5 for airways are cut in the concrete floor 2 of a cooling yard at required intervals and an air intake 9 opening to the open air is connected to each of the grooves 5. A large-sized fan A is set in each of the grooves 5 at the air intake 9 side end under a window, a large-sized fan B is set on the bottom of each of the grooves at the central part and a partition plate 6 is placed between the fans A, B. Cold air sucked by the fan A is straightly blown on lines 7 of hot coils corresponding to the first half of lines of hot coils piled up on the floor 2 to cool the lines 7 of hot coils. Cold air sucked by the fan B is straightly blown on lines 8 of hot coils corresponding to the second half to cool the lines 8 of hot coils. Thus, the time required to cool the lines of hot coils can be made uniform independently of the position.
