PURPOSE:To prevent a qualitative deterioration of an image signal from attracting an attention, by interpolating a word data in which an error has been generated, by an interpolating data formed by using other word data in which no error is generated, and outputting it. CONSTITUTION:A distance D on a scareen of a peripheral data block against an attention data block is set as Dmin-Dmax, and from a history memory HM 6, HM (H0, V0+Dmin)-HM (H0, V0+Dmax) are read out and supplied to an interpolation control circuit 7, and in case when a value of HM (H0, V0+D) in Dnot equal to 0 is >='1', it is set to '1', and thereafter, an HL data train of 6 bits is formed. Subsequently, a comparison table in the interpolation processing control circuit 7 and the HL data train are compared, the corresponding signals L, A and G are supplied to an interpolating circuit 8, and the interpolating circuit 8 reads out a data block corresponding to a signal L from an FRM 3, executes an interpolation processing by using this data block and outputs it. Subsequently, block addresses (H0, V0) are updated, and this operation is repeated unitl they become H0>H0max and V0>V0max.
