The present invention relates to a stud for a shoe sole with studs or a similar surface. According to the invention, at least one part representing a considerable fraction of the peripheral lateral surface of the stud 2 is separated from the central part or core 8 of the stud by a narrow groove 6 whose width is of the same order as the thickness of the peripheral wall 7 which it separates from the core and whose depth is between this same width and the total height of the stud 2.
