PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound by a safe and simple operation, in high yield, industrially and advantageously, by reacting an aldehyde with 1,1,1- trichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane by using a polar solvent and a specific catalytic system. CONSTITUTION:An aldehyde such as benzaldehyde shown by formula I (R is H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic) is reacted with 1,1,1- trichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane in a polar solvent such as dimethylformamide in the presence of a lead compound such as lead bromide, a foil metal such as Al, Fe, Ni, Sn, Co, Mg or a mixture thereof, having higher ionization tendency and 1-12C monocarboxylic acid anhydride such as acetic anhydride or an acid halide at 0-100 deg.C, preferably 0-40 deg.C to give the aimed compound shown by formula II useful as synthetic intermediate for drugs and agricultural chemicals. |
