PURPOSE:To read picture data read from an original set to a platen with upside down at a normal attitude by providing a read window of a read head while being biased to one side of a carriage moving direction and providing a turning control section to turn the position of a picture data. CONSTITUTION:Since a read window 64 is provided while being biased to one side of a read head 60, the picture is read up to the end of an original at the biased area, while the area disabled of reading picture is increased at the opposite side. If a picture desired to be read is drawn on the area disabled of reading, the original is set with upside down to move the picture to the position to be enabled of reading. Thus, the read picture data is inverted, but the print with normal attitude is attained by allowing the turning control section to turn the position of the picture data.
