Process for sealing, by means of liquid cast iron, round steel rods in each of the plugs of a prebaked carbon anode for the production of aluminium by the Hall-Héroult process, characterised in that, during the moulding of the raw anode, open connecting channels are formed on the upper face of the anode between the various plugs and then, after baking the anode, the cast iron is cast in the plugs at a level substantially equal to and not exceeding the upper surface of the anode. It is possible, for example, to cast the cast iron from an induction furnace with gas pressure by raising the pressure P of gas (air or argon) in the furnace by a predetermined value DELTA P corresponding to a predetermined volume of cast iron V. <IMAGE>
