PURPOSE:To enable a user to easily grasp an automatic focusing state by providing a display device which calculates the difference between electric signal quantities from two photodetecting elements and displays a value proportional to the difference in a finder. CONSTITUTION:Electric signals generated with light beams incident on the photodetecting elements 1 and 5 are inputted to a microcomputer 10 through preamplifiers 2 and 6, integration circuits 3 and 7, and comparators 4 and 8. The microcomputer 10 measures the time required by an integral voltage value to reach a reference value set by an integration reference setting circuit 9 as to the elements 1 and 5 respectively and the measured times are denoted as (a) and (b). Those times (a) and (b) are outputted to the microcomputer 13 respective, which calculates ¦a-b¦, classifies this value by, for example, eight stages, and outputs it to a liquid crystal driver circuit 14. The automatic focusing state of a photographic lens is displayed in eight stages on the liquid crystal 15 in the finder. Consequently, the video camera user can easily grasp the automatic focusing state of the photographic lens.
