NEW MATERIAL:1-Substituted-azacyclopentan-2-one of formula (n is 2-4). EXAMPLE:1-(3,7,11-Trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl)azacyclopentan-2-one. USE:A medicine. A drug for transcutaneous administration. It promotes transcutaneous absorption of a drug, has safety and gives agreeable feeling to the skin. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting azacyclopentan-2-one with a halide of formula II (X is halogen) in the presence of a base such as NaH in an inert gas atmosphere under anhydrous condition in a hydrocarbon solvent such as anhydrous toluene at a temperature between room temperature and refluxing temperature.
