PURPOSE:To form a surface-treated aluminum plate which has excellent corrosion resistance not only in a state of a flat plate but also after fabrication, and does not contain harmful chromium, by treating an aluminum plate with an aqueous mixture comprising a specified water-soluble resin and a water-soluble crosslinking agent, and baking it. CONSTITUTION:This surface-treated aluminum plate is prepared by treating an aluminum or aluminum alloy plate with a treating bath and baking it at 150-300 deg.C to form a coating film thereon. This treating bath is an aqueous mixture comprising one or more water-soluble resins selected from among polyacrylic acids and polymethacrylic acids, each having a degree of polymeriza tion of 1,000-5,000, and polyacrylates and polymethacrylates, each having a degree of polymerization of 100-500; and a water-soluble crosslinking agent having two or more epoxy groups in the molecule.
