PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound capable of exhibiting buttery or milky aroma in high purity in a simple process, by reacting a 2-trimethylsilyloxy-5,6- dihydropyran derivative which is an inexpensive and readily available raw material with allyl methyl carbonate in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A 2-trimethylsilyloxy-5,6-dihydropyran derivative expressed by formula I (R is alkyl, alkenyl or alkenyl) is used as a raw material and reacted with allyl methyl carbonate in the presence of palladium acetate catalyst in an organic solvent (e.g. dimethylformamide or dioxane) at about 0-100 deg.C, preferably about 10-60 deg.C to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula II. The allyl methyl carbonate is used in an amount of preferably 1.5-2.5mol. based on the compound expressed by formula I. Furthermore, the compound expressed by formula I is synthesized by reacting a delta-lactone with lithium diisopropylamide and then with chlorotrimethylsilane.
