DECOLORING OF DYE AND MICROORGANISM HAVING DYE-DECOMPOSITION ACTIVITY

PURPOSE:To enable biochemical decoloring of a dye-containing waste liquid in high efficiency even in alkaline state, by using a novel dye-decomposing microorganism belonging to Alcaligenes genus. CONSTITUTION:Dye is decolored by treating a dye-containing substance with Alcaligenes sp.RB-1 (FERM P-9183) having optimum pH of 9 and auxotrophic nature and capable of decomposing dyes. The decoloring treatment using said microorganism is preferably carried out at 37 deg.C and pH 8-9.
