PURPOSE:To eliminate the labor of cutting a cast piece and improve yield by setting the cutting length of a cast piece and carrying out marking on the cut part based on the signal of the set cutting length and detecting the arrival of the marked position at a defined position and carrying out cutting on the marked position. CONSTITUTION:The length of a long-size billet is measure by means of a length meter on a conveying line 1 and the measured signal is sent to a setting device 6 to set the billet cutting length. And, based on this signal, a cut part is marked on the billet by a marking device 8, and the marked position is detected by a detecting device 10 when the position arrives at a part at a defined length to a cutting position. And, the signal is outputted to a cold saw 12 to cut the marked position. Hence, the marking and cutting can be automatized eliminating labor and, further, the optimum cutting position can be set in accordance with the length of the billet, reducing a crop loss and improving yield.
