PURPOSE:To achieve a higher operability, by performing a printing of a test pattern and a display of error information continuously for each printer when two kind of printers are tested. CONSTITUTION:A display section 27 is provided with two kind of printers 4 and 5 built in to print characters. During a test with a test key depressed, the printers 5 and 4 produce outputs in the order to perform a test printing separately by drawing numerous slant lines or the others. Here, when an error occurs, an error message is shown on the display section 27 and after about two second, the display is automatically cleared. The operation is performed continuously with respect to the printers 4 and 5. Thus, it suffices to provide a test command only once thereby assuring checking of two printers 4 and 5 without fail with a higher operability.
