955,996. Make-and-break switches, mechanical. HOLZER PATENTS A.G. May 23, 1960 [June 1, 1959; June 15, 1959; May 6, 1960], No. 18037/60. Heading H2B. A switch suitable for controlling an automatic washing-machine comprises a casing enclosing at least one rotary control disc 6 wherein at least one projection 2 to support the disc at a predetermined separation from the casing is fixed to the casing and a spring 7 is provided to urge the disc towards the projection; the disc having concentric cam tracks sensed by sensing members 5 arranged to cause contact actuation, for example as in Specification 893,992. The rear face of the control disc has recesses (not shown) for sliding contacts (not shown) which travel over a printed circuit (not shown) forming a cover for the casing, the sliding contacts controlling indicating and/or auxiliary circuits and the sensing members 5 controlling the main operating circuits of the washing-machine. An annular ring 52, Fig. 6, forms the supporting projection in an embodiment comprising a main control disc 21 and an auxiliary control disc 62 rotatable within disc 21 by a spindle 22, the disc 21 being separately driven through external toothing 64 from a motor 67. The disc 62 runs on ball-bearings at 71 guided in cages (not shown), as can be ball-bearings (not shown) for use with disc 21, which is urged against projection 52 by a spring (not shown). Sensing members 25 and 63 are located in the same sensing plane 61 and sense cam tracks on the two discs 21, 62, respectively. |
