摘要 PURPOSE:To produce a magnetic field component parallel to the traveling direction of light at a nonreciprocal part and a magnetic field component perpendicular to the traveling direction of light at a reciprocal part. CONSTITUTION:Part of a three-dimensional optical waveguide 12 as a propagation converting means which converts the propagation direction of light, i.e. part parallel to lines J of magnetic force functions as the nonreciprocal part 28 and a part perpendicular to the lines J of magnetic force functions as the reciprocal part 30. A magnetic field is produced at the nonreciprocal part 28 in parallel to the propagation direction of the light and a magnetic field which slants at a specific angle theta to the perpendicular line of the surface of a substrate 10 is produced at the reciprocal part 30 in a plane perpendicular to the propagation direction of the light. When laser light is guided in an L-shaped three- dimensional optical waveguide 12, the propagation direction at the nonreciprocal part 28 and the propagation direction at the reciprocal part 30 cross each other. Consequently, a common magnetic field producing device 18 is used to obtain effectively the magnetic field of the direction component parallel to the propagation direction at the nonreciprocal part 28 and the magnetic field of the component perpendicular to the propagation direction at the reciprocal part 30.
