In the case of a motor-vehicle seat with a backrest which can be folded forwards onto the seat part, there is mounted pivotably on the rear side, in the upper region of the backrest, a plate-shaped wall part on which a further plate-shaped wall part is held such that it can pivot about a pivoting axis which is parallel to the first wall part. Folded one on top of the other, the two wall parts can be folded onto the rear side of the backrest and then, with the backrest folded over forwards, form a hard, even storage surface for luggage. The two wall parts can be furthermore swung up together relative to the folded-over backrest into a vertical position and can be fixed in such a manner that there is produced a container which is open at the top, is intended for items of luggage and, when the second wall part is pivoted away from the first wall part and locked by means of the locking device of the backrest, can furthermore be closed, the second wall part forming the container lid.
