PURPOSE:To facilitate the resumption of automatic tracking after a target, such as a ship, passes a region wherein the automatic tracking is difficult by automatically changing over the automatic tracking to semiautomatic tracking that is not related to radar video when the target passes said region. CONSTITUTION:Receiving radar video signals and radar bearing signals, a target detecting unit 11 digitizes the video signals with regard to a bearing and a range and extracts target data. A semiautomatic tracking region memory 14 stores the dead region of a radar and a region wherein automatic tracking is difficult, for example, a region wherein there is much sear clutter or rain and snow clutter or the like and feeds the data of those regions to an automatic tracking processing unit 12 and a semiautomatic tracking processing unit 13. The processing unit 12 and a semiautomatic tracking processing unit 13. The processing unit 12 automatically tracks a target on the basis of the target data from the target detecting unit 11. When the target is judged to enter the region wherein the automatic tracking is difficult by comparing the target data from the target detecting unit 11 and the data from the memory 14 with each other, automatic tracking data are fed to the processing unit 13 and the automatic tracking is temporarily changed over to semiautomatic tracking. Thus, since the automatic tracking is automatically changed over to the semiautomatic tracking and tracking is continued, the automatic tracking can be resumed without troubling an operator after the regions are passed.
