Process for regenerating zeolite-based hydrocarbon-conversion catalysts

A process for regenerating an at least partially deactivated hydrocarbon-conversion catalyst which contains at least one metal of Group VIII of the Periodic Table of the Elements precipitated onto a zeolite in the acidic form, which zeolite is selected from the group consisting of zeolite Y, clinoptilolite, ferrierite, offretite, ZSM5, ZSM11, zeolite NU-1, zeolite omega, zeolite beta and zeolite 11, this zeolite having a content of alkali metal cations and/or alkali earth metal cations calculated as sodium weight equivalents of less than 0.5% by weight, based on the dry weight of the zeolite, includes contacting the at least partially deactivated catalyst at a temperature of about 200 to 500@C with a gaseous mixture of 0.02 to 5% by weight of water, oxygen and at least one chlorine compound used in an amount of 0.5 to 10% by weight, based on the dry weight of the zeolite.
